Rabbi Eliezer Lawrence, C.M.
A graduate of Columbia University, Rabbi Eliezer Lawrence, C.M. specializes in neonatal ritual circumcision, integrating a commitment to rigorous academic and religious study with comprehensive clinical experience. His aim is to uphold the highest standards of precision and safety, in honor of and with fidelity to the Jewish people’s oldest commandment.
He received his initial training at the Moresheth Avoth Institute in Beit Shemesh, Israel, under the mentorship of Rabbi Mordechai Azran, C.M. This intensive program provided a solid foundation in both the technical and procedural aspects of circumcision, as well as the liturgical, clerical, and Jewish legal expertise integral to this sacred rite. His course of study culminated in certification as a Mohel, endorsed by Rabbi Shimon Biton, the sitting Chief Rabbi of Beit Shemesh.
Rabbi Lawrence continued with a postgraduate clinical apprenticeship at the London School of Circumcision, the leading institution for advanced mohel training. Under the guidance of Ephraim Josovic, C.M., a renowned expert in the field, he gained extensive hands-on experience, mastering advanced techniques and best practices in neonatal circumcision and aftercare.
With a commitment to bringing a grounded pastoral presence to his work, he completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, further expanding his clerical and clinical training in working with families in significant life moments.
Beyond his work as a Certified Mohel, Rabbi Lawrence is also a trained emergency medical services provider, certified by the New York State Department of Health. He serves with Hatzalah, a volunteer-based emergency medical service committed to rapid response and compassionate community care.
This comprehensive and multidisciplinary training equips him to perform each ceremony and procedure with the utmost precision, professionalism, and sensitivity, providing families with a safe and spiritually-rooted experience.
