A Mohel is the professional religious practitioner trained in milah, or ritual circumcision. Often a Rabbi, he has received specialized training in the ancient art of Jewish ritual circumcision, both in the procedure and the laws surrounding its performance..
Often the Mohel will also serve as the master of ceremonies, both leading the service, (known as the bris or brit milah, which literally means "covenant of the circumcision) as well as performing the actual circumcision. Sometimes the Mohel only does the cut and another Rabbi, often a Rabbi of a family's synagogue, will tag team with the Mohel and serve as the Emcee.
